Dr. Verna May Linzey hosts “The Holy Spirit Today” television broadcasts. is one of the founding Advisory Board members of the Verna Linzey Child Care Ministry based in the Philippines, which has a vision of reaching orphans worldwide.

Verna is a prolific writer. In 2006, on the 100th anniversary of the Azusa Street Revival, Author Verna Linzey was awarded the 2005 Best Non-Fiction of the Year Award by the San Diego Christian Writer’s Guild for writing The Baptism with the Holy Spirit. She is also the author of Spirit Baptism, numerous articles and is the editorial assistant for The Leader’s Bible translated by military chaplains, and is writing a third book entitled The Gifts of the Spirit.

Having initially grown up in Coffeeville, Kansas, with a family friend and hymn writer, Ira Stanphil, Verna wrote the hymn, “Oh Blessed Jesus,” which has been recorded and is being sung in churches around the world. Ira and his brother, Ray, would often stop by the Hall Music Store to visit Verna’s family. There, Verna’s parents, Carey Franklin Hall, II, and Alice May Hall, sold Baldwin pianos. Singing with Verna on the record, Oh Blessed Jesus, is the Grammy Award nominee Triumphant Quartet and Sisters.  The record was released in 2010.

Verna and her late husband, retired US Navy Chaplain, Captain Stanford E. Linzey, Jr., had ten children. She has been a minister with the General Council of the Assemblies of God for over 50 years. She was interviewed by Public Broadcasting System (PBS) regarding her recollections of World War II.

Verna matriculated at Southwestern Assemblies of God University, audited the courses in the Doctor of Ministry Program at Fuller Theological Seminary from 1978 to 1980, and received an Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree at Kingsway Theological Seminary.

Verna is listed in Who’s Who Among American Women, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in the World. She is an Honorary Board Member of Nehemiah Theological Seminary in India and is on the Advisory Board at St. Elias Seminary and Graduate School.
